Meet AJ’s New High Holy Day Prayer Book

“Mah­zor Lev Shalem”

Last year, the Con­ser­v­a­tive Move­ment pub­lished a new High Holy Day prayer book, Mah­zor Lev Shalem “A Com­plete Heart.” AJ will be using this new prayer book begin­ning with the High Holy Days this fall, thanks to the friends and fam­ily of Betty Hanover Car­ney, who gen­er­ously donated the books in her lov­ing memory.

We are grate­ful to Betty’s fam­ily who estab­lished an endow­ment for the Mah­zor, The Betty Hanover Car­ney Mah­zor Fund. The new mah­zor offers many oppor­tu­ni­ties for an inspi­ra­tional engage­ment with the liturgy through tra­di­tional and con­tem­po­rary read­ings, inter­est­ing com­men­tary and a beau­ti­ful translation.

This year, we are mak­ing avail­able the oppor­tu­nity to ded­i­cate a new Mah­zor in honor of or in mem­ory of a loved one. A ded­i­ca­tion plate will be placed in the inside cover of the book with your ded­i­ca­tion, and will be used at our High Holy Day ser­vices for years to come.

The cost of ded­i­cat­ing a mah­zor until Sept. 15, 2011 is $40 per book. This is a won­der­ful oppor­tu­nity to ded­i­cate books in honor of and in mem­ory of loved ones, pro­vided that the form and pay­ment are received by the syn­a­gogue office no later than Sep­tem­ber 15, 2011. Begin­ning on Sep­tem­ber 16th, the price of a ded­i­ca­tion will increase to $50 per book.
