Sukkot, one of the three pilgrimage festivals, occurs shortly after the High Holy Days. The primary ritual of Sukkot is to spend time in a sukkah. The sukkah is meant to evoke the time the Israelites spent wandering in the desert. Sukkot’s other main ritual items are the lulav and etrog which reference the holiday’s history as one of agricultural thanksgiving. Read Sukkot 101 to learn more about this week long fall-festival.
