How is the cost of membership determined?
AJ employs a full-service staff to serve the needs of our members. Like all organizations, AJ has to cover expenses such as salaries, payroll taxes, utilities, phones, computer equipment, insurance, maintenance, custodial, and many other obligations which continue throughout the year. Membership support is based on covering the costs of all these expenses.

I am interested in membership; however, I am unable to afford the full cost. Can I pay less?
We understand that some folks are unable to contribute at the suggested levels. AJ is committed to eliminating financial obstacles and other barriers to participation for all who wish to join. I understand that the costs to operate a large congregation are significant, and I would like to contribute more. What options are available?
AJ offers a “21st Century Plaque” program that recognizes members who voluntarily support the synagogue at higher levels. Because of their generosity, the Congregation is able to cover our expenses while enabling younger members and those with financial hardships to also participate at AJ. The names of our 21st Century Plaque donors are listed on a beautiful plaque affixed on the wall outside the sanctuary.
