Mission Statement

Congregation Adath Jeshurun is dedicated to Conservative Judaism and its dynamic interpretation of Jewish law, offering a variety of opportunities for individual and communal spiritual growth.

 

The Congregation is committed to life-long education (Torah), a traditional style of worship (Avodah), and acts of loving kindness (G’milut Hassadim) both within and outside the Jewish community.

 

The Congregation emphasizes egalitarianism, which results in consciously striving to provide women and men the opportunity to share equal responsibilities and privileges in all aspects of synagogue life.

 

The Congregation fosters a sense of family, togetherness, and sociability among its members by being part of their daily lives, ministering to their life cycle needs, and offering support at critical times.

 

The Congregation embraces its special relationship and responsibility to the State of Israel and worldwide Jewry.

 

The Congregation intends to achieve its mission with sensitivity to and broad involvement of its members in a warm, welcoming environment while contributing to the welfare of the total community.

The AJ logo features a smaller solid Star of David inside a larger open Star of David symbolizing the openness of our Congregation exemplified in our tagline above. The vibrant and diverse colors of the stars symbolize the vibrancy and diversity of our Congregation. The center of the star is filled with an image of our ark doors which contain our Torahs, reminding us to fill our hearts with Torah.
