Candle Light Blessing
It is a mitzvah for Jewish people to light candles to usher in the Sabbath.
Below is the blessing to be recited over the Shabbat candles:
Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'hadlik ner shel Shabbat.
Praised are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who has made us holy through God's commandments and commanded us to kindle the Sabbath light.
