Bris/Babynaming
Welcoming a New Baby!
AJ cleargy are so pleased to officiate at ceremonies to welcome babies into the Jewish community!
For a boy, a Brit Milah (also known as a bris) is traditionally held when the baby is eight days old, unless there are medical circumstances requiring a delay in the procedure. The bris includes a naming ceremony and circumcision which serves as a sign of the covenant between God and the Jewish people.
For a girl, a Brit Habat is a babynaming ceremony where the baby is given her Hebrew name and welcomed into the Jewish community. This ceremony usually takes place at some point after the baby is 30 days old.
At both ceremonies, parents receive a certificate and babies receive a gift from the synagogue. Please call the synagogue office to schedule either ceremony.
